Barns and Noble’s Nook and Amazon’s Kindle are two of the trendiest gadgets today. Both are good ebook readers, and each has different characteristics. The Nook has an extra color screen, good contrast, and slot for memory expansion. It also allows sharing of downloaded ebooks. In addition, it can read ebooks formatted in TXT, Word, ePub, and PDF. The Kindle, on the other hand, is faster and lighter than the Nook. It also has a built-in browser and longer battery life. It can read documents formatted in AZW or AZWI, TXT, PRC or MOBI.
Reading Incompatible Ebook Formats in Your Chosen Device
A lot of users check the specifications and features of the product before they purchase it. However, if you have already purchased the Kindle or the Nook and you want to convert a file to the format of the other, do not worry because you may still do so. Reading incompatible Kindle ebook formats on your Nook is possible. When going from Kindle to Nook, you have to convert the file and use Windows Explorer to transfer them.
Converting Kindle to Nook
The first step in converting Kindle to Nook is to turn on your Amazon Kindle. Then, connect it to your laptop or desktop computer through its USB cable. Open the ebook that you want to convert and transfer from Kindle to Nook. Scroll to the first page, click on the first letter of the first word of the ebook, and click on the Select wheel. After that, go to the last page of the ebook and click on the space after the last word. Next, click on the Select wheel. The entire ebook will then be highlighted, and a certain percentage of it will be copied to your My Clippings folder as a TXT file.
Step-by-step Procedures
Go to your Start menu and open your My Computer or Computer folder. Choose the Removable Drive folder that represents your Kindle. Click on your My Clippings folder and move the copied TXT file inside it to the Desktop. Right-click and delete this TXT file so you will be able to make more clippings from your ebook. Open Notepad or any other text editor you have on your Start menu. Click on File at the top of the text editor. Click on Open and choose the TXT file on your Desktop. See how many percentage of the TXT file was copied, and repeat the previous steps to copy the remaining sections. Continue doing the procedures until the entire ebook is copied. To be successful in converting Kindle to Nook files, make sure to copy and paste the sections into just one TXT file and organize them in a way that they resemble your original ebook.
Copying and Downloading Files from Kindle to Nook
You can also copy a TXT file from Kindle to Nook by connecting Kindle to your computer, clicking on My Computer or Computer, and double clicking on the Removable Disk drive icon that represents your Kindle. You will then find the ebooks and other documents that are saved on it. Drag the ebook that you want to copy and drop it on your Desktop. When downloading Kindle to Nook, use a USB cable to connect the Nook to your computer. Click on My Computer or Computer and double click on the Removable Disk drive icon that represents your Nook. Drag the Kindle ebook from the Desktop and drop it in the My Documents folder of the Nook.
